Description

Eliot the buck swam to us down the Vltava in 2017, at the time a two-year-old youngster. Staff of our Prague Wildlife Rescue Centre pulled him out and rescued him together with the fire brigade. We will never find out why he had the misfortune to fall into the water. The main thing is that he recovered quickly and found his new fallow deer family in the zoo corner. He probably belonged to a keeper originally, because he was tame and not afraid of people.

The fallow deer herd is the largest in the zoo corner and contains animals with a variety of life stories. Two does, however, you will recognise among the others at first glance. They are two black-coated females who came to us in 2016 as yearlings. Their owner, a hunter from Beroun, died unexpectedly, so new homes had to be found for the several animals he kept. The does have been used to each other since they were small, so they often stay close together. Their unusual colouring stands out mainly in summer, and it also gave them their name — the Black Sisters.

The fallow deer already have these adoptive parents:

until 11/2026 Verunka, Milen a Jan Kuželkovi, Praha
