Drápek was born in captivity at the Łączna Zoo Farm in Poland in 2016. A year later he came to our zoo corner, where he found his new home. He has been tame since he was a cub, so he is not afraid of people and cannot be released into the wild.

Description

A year later he came to our zoo corner, where he found his new home. He has been tame since he was a cub, so he is not afraid of people and cannot be released into the wild. He has a gentle, sweet nature and the keepers are very fond of him. He sometimes watches them cleaning; he is mainly interested in the rake, which he occasionally pounces on. Although he likes people, he does not seek out direct contact or stroking. He keeps a distance that suits him. One of his favourite games is kicking a ball about. He also loves cardboard boxes, into which the keepers put hay from the enclosures of the hoofed animals — he can roll about in those all day long. Fresh grass gives him pleasure too, as do squeaky toys, which he enjoys demolishing. When he gets tired he can happily sleep for two days. He is active and playful mainly when he is alone and undisturbed. As soon as several people are watching him, he spends most of the time lying with dignity and resting. His name was chosen by the visitors to the zoo corner themselves, who took part in a poll before his ceremonial naming in 2017.
